Wireless Network Problem

I’m having a problem with my wireless network. I have a laptop connected to a desktop. I can see my see my Sharedocs file on my desktop from my laptop, but I can’t see my Sharedocs file on my laptop from my desktop! When trying to see my laptop from my desktop I get a dialog box asking for (laptop) user name and password. I enter both, but my password is highlighted (as if it’s the wrong password) and for a long time nothing appears to be happening. Finally, I get the message: “(Laptop) is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found.” How do I solve this problem?
By the way, the desktop has XP and the laptop has Vista.

My own experience in a similar situation is that the permission on the folder on your laptop has to be set to 'Sharing'. Happily, this is not hard to do !

Open Windows Explorer ( not Internet Explorer ). this can be done either by clicking on the icon on the taskbar, if there is one, or by RIGHT clicking on the start button, then clicking on 'Explore'. Then find your 'Sharedocs' folder and click once on it to select it. Then RIGHT click on it, and, at the bottom of the menu that pops up, select 'Properties'.

At the top of the 'Properties' box there is a row of tabs - click on the one that says 'Sharing'. This should bring up another dialogue box in which you assign shares in the folder. Your network should appear in the larger white box, then, using the drop-down button, select your network in the small white box then click on the 'Share' button. That's it - your 'Sharedocs' folder should now be accessible from your desktop.

Repeat the process for any other folders you want to share.
