Posted Image When posting a log please put the type of infection you have in the topic title. IE: Winfixer, Virtumonde, WinTools, WebSearch, Home Search Assistant, etc.


Posted Image Do not bump your topic. We try to resolve logs on a first come/first served basis. By bumping your log you will be pushed back in line due to the new date of your bump.

How would you reinstall Windows? Would you be using the CTRL+F11 feature to restore the computer to factory settings? If so, everything in the computer will be erased and a new image will be installed, conseuently there is no need to run scanners at all.

I've already done it, using the Dell CD ISO you suggested previously and then <CTRL> <F11>.

I re-scanned for viruses before restoring as a belt-and-braces* approach, just to see if there was anything still lurking. I thought it was probably a waste of time, but since I'd already spent the best part of 8 days trying to get the laptop back in service, another hour or two for the scans didn't seem too much trouble!

* I believe 'braces' are called 'suspenders' across the pond, which is where I assume you are located, given the time differences of our posts. 'Suspenders' in the UK has a very different connotation...
