Spyware Guard Updates?

New Member Group: Members Posts: 11 Joined: 17-June 05 From: Pennsylvania Member No.: 23,809	Hello! Thanks to sites like this one, I have found many helpful products. I installed Spyware Blaster and Spyware Guard some time ago. I have updated Spyware Blaster many times, but every time I try to update Spyware Guard, it says there are no newer updates available. The definitions date I currently have is 1/22/2004. As this is nearly two years old, I find it hard to believe there are no newer updates. Are there, and if so, why can't I seem to get them? Thanks for any response.

Normally, for an Anti-Virus product to detect a virus, the virus must have been seen before, analyzed and detection added to the signature update files. Heuristics are used since there are some families of viruses that continually change their appearance and it is not possible to detect every variant. Heuristics allows setting up a defined set of rules so if it looks like a virus, and acts like a virus it can be detected, even if the virus has never been seen before.
