Thank you all!! I went to the DMV this morning and got my Permit with ease and was driving around for bit today! My mom is still all worked up but she will get used to it eventually.

I'm glad you got your permit. Now, look at this from your mother's perspective. She is sitting in the front passenger seat. You are driving. Your mother now thinks that mailboxes, trees, road signs, and utility poles are to close the edge of the road on HER side. Also be aware that she will use the imaginary brake a lot.
