The computer I'm working on (Windows XP Professional, SP3) had AVG Anti-Virus (business edition) 8.5 loaded. I completely uninstalled 8.5, restarted the computer, and downloaded Anti-Virus Business Edition 2011. Once download was completed, AVG opened and the program attempted to run an update. The error received was "Update Failed, A .bin file is missing". The update stops on 6/6 which reads "http://backup.avg.cz/softw/10/update/x8xplsc_500we.bin".

-On the main screen of AVG 2011 it reads: Virus Database: 1435/3402 and AVG Version: 10.0.1204.
-On the Security Components and Status Overview screen, all icons show as 'Active' with the exception of Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, and LinkScanner which all show "Database is outdated".

I have tried: Uninstalling/reinstalling 3 times with a few restarts before and after downloads, as well as going into 'Tools->Advanced Settings->Update->Manage-> "Delete Temporary Update Files"' ....Then attempting the updates again with no success.

All general computer updates are current including Microsoft, Adobe, and Malwarebytes. I have googled this error quite a bit today however there are no threads out there that are relatively recent.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Follow up. Today I attempted to complete the update again and the AVG updated with no issues. Seems to have been something on the AVG side.

I was going to suggest using the uninstall/cleanup utility (AVG Remover) provided in AVG 2011+9.0+8.x Uninstall/Re-Install Instructions but if all is ok now, just keep the link for future reference.
