which is better intel 2.4 ghz quad or intel 2.6 ghz dual

title pretty much says it all...ive got these two processors and i just want to know which one would out preform the other in well jsut bout everything but mostly gaming...

what brand is your quad and what socket are they????

o right their both intels...cant remebmer the exact but it says intel Q6600 and socket 775 both of them...

in many cases, it depends on the application, but its a 200 mhz difference, I would go with the q6600 quad core. It is a good CPU, and you can overclock it to 2.6 easily if you have an single or dual core application that absolutly needs that extra 200 mhz, though I doubt that will be the case-most programs these days are quad core certified, I would definetly go with the quad.

Which is best really depends on what you're running. Not many games utilize all four cores, even some AAA titles. In that case, the dual's faster clock speed would give a slight speed increase. With only 200 MHz. between the two, there really won't be much difference aside from price.
