When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

Hi there,

I currently have 3 computers (2 laptops, 1 PC) all connected to my home network. One laptop is running Win7, the other Vista and my PC is running Win764.

I have recently noticed my search results being redirected in google as well as pop ups, sometimes to some adult themed sites. As my children use the laptops, I need to resolve this issue, however I believe I have tried almost everything I can find.

I started by using software such as SAS, Dr.Web, Spybot S&D, AntiVir and MS Essentials with nothing but tracking cookies being found. I then created a couple of UBCD4WIN disks and followed tutorials on using them to scan. I found a malware threat in Winlogon Shell explorer.exe on one laptop and the PC which was subsequently "fixed".

After rebooting and re-scanning, nothing found. Google search still being redirected.

I then tried the rootkit scanner from Kaspersky which found nothing and when trying the UBCD4WIN yesterday on the PC.... EVEN I.E FROM WITHIN UBCD4WIN WAS BEING REDIRECTED!!!

I resorted to running ComboFix on one laptop and the PC which ran fine and produced a report which I didn't really understand however on the PC a file called inst.exe in the roaming folder was deleted. Having done all this, my searches are still being redirected and I have even ensured my router password is working and that the DNS servers are set as they should be.

My final attempt was going to be a format and re-install but came accross this forum and thought some professionals out there may be able to help?

Thanks in advance.

Rich.

Hello having run ComboFix we need to see that and a DDS log.

Please go here....
Preparation Guide ,do steps 6 - 9.

Create a DDS log and post it in the new topic explained in step 9 which is here Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs and not in this topic, thanks.
Skip the GMER step and instead post the ComboFix log you posted earlier.

Let me know if that went well.

You're welcome. Now that your log is properly posted, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a Malware Removal Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.

From this point on the Malware Removal Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the Malware Removal Team members are very busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the Malware Removal Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another MRL Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic.
