I'm trying to resurrect a dinosaur here: an eMachines T1842. I've tossed the original 1.8Ghz CPU for a 2.8Ghz Intel Celeron (worked great!), and I purchased this 1GB stick of memory from eBay: Memory I Got From eBay
I installed the memory and nothing! I get a completely blank screen and the PC beeps (once, then 3 times) but fails to do anything. Anyone know what could be going on? I was pretty damn sure this memory was compatible. Here's the memory specs on the T1842: T1842 Memory Specs
Any ideas?

Chances are the stick is bad-it happens, especially with used merchandise.

Any chance that a BIOS update would help?

You could check the voltage, see if you can find the voltage in the BIOS and see what its set at default, then see what that kingston stick is designed to run at. It could be a voltage issue.

From what Im finding-the motherboard default is 2.5v, and I cant seem to find the voltage for that specific model memory module (it might say on the module itself) but the average voltage for kingston DDR is 2.5. But Id still check the module itself to see what the voltage for it is, sometimes they do weird stuff (like 2.6vs)
