When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

Good day, could anyone please help.

about 1 hour ago, an application appeared in the lower-right taskbar, a blue-ish looking logo, keeps complaining that my computer just got infected and that hackers are attacking.

It keeps opening MS explorer and going to a website called www.softwarean.com (with a lengthier string at the end). It basically insists that I "upgrade to a full protection" in order for the threat to be disabled.

The strange part is that I shut-off the wireless immediately and it kept warning me of ongoing live attacks. I managed to connect on the net to write this now by rebooting in safe mode (on windows XP professional).

I ran Norton (full scan) and nothing came up, I do have the very latest updates for definition.

Looks like an app which auto-runs.

Can someone please help.

thank you

Hello,

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.

I banged my head against this one for hours. Norton couldn't find it, Spybot couldn't find it, McAffee couldn't find it. Guess who found it? SUPERAntiSpyware found and fixed, no problem! Here's what I did...

Reboot in Safe mode.

Go to Superantispyware.com and download free version (I couldn't run from site, had to save to C: drive and then launch)

Say yes to latest updates

Do simple scan (fast)

Mine found 41 issues that Spybot and McAffee both missed

Rebooted, everything perfect!
