laptop mouse cursor jumping around on it's own when I'm using it

On a show with a rental laptop. Mouse cursor jumping around screen. Ran malwareBytes quik scan/clear. uninstalled mouse, removed lots from msconfig.
Anyone ever see this?

Low battery and or if optical used on a white or reflective surface will get the same effect.

Damaged pad from abuse or corrupt drivers. You say rental, so it's not had TLC.
