Please describe the problem in detail. Is this happening at shutdown or when you just try to close an application? Also, what is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?

Please run msconfig. Choose Selective Startup (uncheck everything) and reboot. Now open one of the problem programs and try to close it. What happens? (You can reboot to normal mode after testing).

I wonder if you might have inadvertently uninstalled some drivers that are necessary for the system to function.
Pls post make/model of system as well as what programs you used to check the system for viruses & spyware.
In the beginning there was the command line.

I ran the msconfig and everything worked okay except IE which would not go to the internet.

I used superantispyware,Avg anti virus and Auslogic disc defrag. Also used the Malwarebytes scanner.

When you disabled everything in msconfig you also disabled services that would allow you to connect to the internet. That's fine - not a problem. It seems that something loading with the system is causing your problem. Go back to msconfig and start adding items back one or two at a time, rebooting after each change, until the problem recurs. When it does, you'll have identified the offending process / application.
