Hi, All,

This is my first post on this forum. Unfortunately, I am posting because I got a malware or virus. It seems to be a new one, as I haven't found any information by google/bing or on this website.

I visited some websites. And all of a sudden I got pop-up windows about "Spyware Projection" and asked me to buy the software. The malware/virus blocks almost all software, including commandline prompt (cmd), FireFox, etc. It also prevents me to uninstall any software from Control Panel's Add or Remove Programs.

I am running McAfee, so far, nothing was found.

This seems to be an variant of spyprotect2009.

Any idea how to remove it?

Thanks!

I am sorry that I originally posted to a wrong forum. Many thanks to Admin to move this post to the appropriate forum.

I forgot to mention some more details.

In the pop-up window of this malware/virus, there is a "Help & Support" link. Clicking the link opens IE and directs me to spyprotect2011.com, and show a web page asking me to buy the software.

I can run IE from Start->IE. But I cannot run FireFox, CMD, Outlook, and many other apps. Control Panel and "Add/Remove Programs" show up. But I cannot uninstall any programs.

My OS is Windows XP Professional SP3.

BTW, I have no idea where I got this from. But I think I got it from a web site. I have no idea which one.
