I have an HP running XP and none of the browsers will run. IE won't start at all (i get the hour glass for a couple seconds that's it), Firefox reboots the computer and Chrome starts, but doesn't connect.

I've run Malwarebytes and Avira. I can run the updates, so I can still connect to the Internet.

No hardware device errors and I've updated the network card's drivers.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Wilthis -
Are the updates you have mentioned Automatic or Manual updates ??

If you can , Open I.E., it must be I.E. > click on Tools (press the Alt key if you can not see it) > Click Internet options > Connections > LAN Settings > Make sure the only box ticked is the top one, be sure nothing else is ticked Click OK , OK , to exit - Retry the internet now -
If you can not do this there may be an infection involved - Please post back and we can redirect you to another area if required -

You don't need to open IE to get to Internet Options. There is a control panel applet.
But I'm guessing malware.

I'm manually running the updates in Malwarebytes and Avira.

Internet Options won't open either (nor will IE).
