When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

Hi

I am trying to remover personal internet security 2011 from a PC using the guide on this forum

O/S running V-Slow (Vista 32 bit)and windows defender and adawre both disabled/compromised

I have sucessfully used rkill & Malware to address the problem (792 objects), and have run the batch file as requested, but have hit an issue when it comes to deleting the HOSTS file. I can delete the HOSTS file and have noticed that there is a HOSTS file called backup which was created at initial install. The system is not granting me permission to replace the file (delete was fine) - no permissions and i cant seem to be able to amend my permissions. The system isn't mine so im not sure i can get an admin password. Will the system revert to the backup HOST file automaticaly?

Thankyou for your time - this site is a great find when you realise there is a virus

Roger
