swiss knife does not recognize drive installing new wd 500 gb drive

Bios shows new WD blue 500gb drive. I am trying to use swiss knife and ubcd4win to clone new drive but new drive is not listed. Swiss Knife says not media is present in the drive and I cannot select any options to format drive. This new drive shows up in bios just fine. Any ideas? This is the only drive I am using. MY os is xp pro. The ubcd4win seems to be working ok.
