When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

Sorry if I am missing something obvious here. My dad's laptop currently has a virus. It has been on the laptop for several weeks now. I originally downloaded (on a usb on a different laptop) rkill and mbam and used both on his laptop. This temporarily halted the virus, but it now seems worse than before. It will not let any applications run.

I have tried using a usb with several downloaded antivirus files as there is no internet access on the laptop, but it claims the usb is infected and will not allow me to use the applications on it.

Some traits of the virus:

-Occasionally restarts the computer.
-Sets its own homescreen background.
-Runs "System tool" scan.

These are different to the original symptoms, so it may be a new virus.

Does anyone have any ideas? Any help will be very appreciated =]

Sorry for the delayed response but staff members are all volunteers who assist members as time permits. Unfortunately, this means sometimes a topic thread will get overlooked when requests for assistance get backed up.

How is the computer running now?
