BleepingComputer.com: Flashplayer Will Not Install

Running a Dell with Windows 7 64 bit os.
I have ran the Adobe Flashplayer unistaller, reinstalled both manually and with the auto installer. That was after a reboot and running a registry cleaner.
Tried using the 32bit IE8.
Reset all security settings to default. And made sure that scripting and active x controls are set correctly.

After doing these steps several times I was finally able to get Flashplayer to run in Firefox but still a no go in IE8.

Is there anything I am missing? Any help will be appreciated greatly. I don't have much hair to pull out and I am at my wits end.

There are some known problems with Flash and 64 bit browsers.

Perhaps this article from Adobe will be of some assistance. Or at least save a few hairs.
