When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

If you have not received help after three days, please post a link to your topic HERE.

Got a rootkit (or multiple ones) and did all I could do myself to clean them up

- Super Anti Spyware
- Spybot S&D
- MalwareBytes Anti Malware
- Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool
- TDSS Killer (found nothing)
- Hitman Pro

SAS, SS&D, MBAM, and Hitman all found problems. All seem to be (at first glance at least) cleared up, with the exception of some issues Hitman still sees.

Running Hitman, I get this log:
- <Log computer="OFFICE" scan="Normal" version="3.5.8.118" date="2011-01-16T23:24:48" reboot="yes" timeSpentInSecs="319" filesProcessed="46933">
-

<File path="C:\Documents and Settings\Jeff\Cookies\jeff@cdn.at.atwola[1].txt" />

-

<File path="C:\Documents and Settings\Jeff\Cookies\jeff@tacoda[1].txt" />

-

- <Scanners>
<Scanner id="G Data" name="Gen:Variant.Vundo.4 (Engine-A)" />
</Scanners>
<File path="C:\WINDOWS\system32\KBDESR.dll" hash="F7DB52F5DBCE0F29B4407A7732F6A1861B68BDBEAEAA79880602BF96218D8C84" />

-

<File path="HKU\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" />

-

<File path="HKU\S-1-5-18\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" />

</Log>

It says that it can't fix these three problems until a reboot. When I reboot, I get a blue windows screen saying:
" #1 Fail
C:\windows\system32\KBDESR.dll "

And then it boots, only to have the same problems be detected again in Hitman Pro. #1 Fail. Ha! I feel like the #1 fail for paying $20 for the program and having it not help me :)

Also, don't know if it's related, but most times when I re-run Hitman, it tells me Explorer has a proxy server in it... the 127.0.0.1 It says it repairs it each time.

Ideas?

Thanks

Hello if no joy after all that, we need a deeper look. Please go here....
Preparation Guide ,do steps 6 - 9.

Create a DDS log and post it in the new topic explained in step 9,which is here Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs and not in this topic,thanks.
If Gmer won't run,skip it and move on.
Let me know if that went well.

Now that your log is properly posted, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a Malware Removal Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.

From this point on the Malware Removal Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the Malware Removal Team members are very busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the Malware Removal Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic.
