Recently I started getting the above mentioned error in IE 6SP1 when going to such sites as google.com, gmail.com, and other major sites. also I am getting weird behavior on most sites, like javascript is disabled on my browser or something. I will click on a link and a blank browser window will appear. some sites do not have any formatting.
I have checked all my broswer settings, removed security, restored defaults, etc, and no luck... it would seem I have some malignant type of virus or something. but all my scans are turning up nothing...
software I am using to detect problems:
spywareblaster
spy doctor
Macafee Virusscan Enterprise 8.0
spybot
ewido
I have scanned with all these tools, turned on all the 'protection mechanisms' they offer and I am still having no luck. Everything else on the computer seems to be fine, it is on IE.
I am running Windows XP Pro SP2. I tried re-applying the service pack as well but that did not work.
I also uninstalled any recently installed software...
any help would be great
thanks
