So is anyone here well versed in which option he should take?
I believe there is a selection named startup repair. I would try that one 1st and see if it boots up.

THe course of action he should take is to back his data just in case a reinstall is the only way to fix this issue.
According to this: A start up repair can solve a reboot loop issue

Thanks a lot Frank.
I had to come to a decision because I need it for early next week really so I gave it them to repair, no fix no fee but they think they'll fix it. He said he will try a few things before re-installing vista. He said re-installing is annoying so he'll try things before that and said he'll back up the data for me then fix it so I don't lose my data. To be honest I thought this was the best option for me as I wouldn't be able to back it up or have the confidence of fixing it on my own.
Should be ok hopefully.
Thanks Frank,
Gary.
