I went to user accounts and it only has the one name and it is the administrator. It shows that the Offline Files are enabled. I do not know if that means anything?
I also wonder what the shortcut folder "old c drive" is??

You can create a new account from there to start fresh if you want. If the old C shortcut goes nowhere, then delete it. It's just a shortcut.

If you create a new ID/account:
The administrator account will still be there, but it will get hidden from the welcome menu. To access it after making a new acct (if needed),
hit control alt delete two times at the welcome screen, and type in administrator as the user to logon as that old ID.

When I try to uninstall Adobe Photoshop I get the same error I had when try to update adobe reader :1327 Invalid Drive J:\
I checked the "old c drive shortcut and I can see these folders:

Documents and Settings, Program Files, WINDOWS, and a faded folder : RECYCLER

When I look at properties for these folders it show the location as:
C:\temp\oldcdrive

I also notice when the computer starts up the dos Window opens and show :net use j: /delete
"The network connection could not be found"

I saved a screen shot of this and will attach.
It eventually flashes something else in the dos window but I cannot see it because it is so quick.

Is there somewhere else on the forum I could find help? I was able to remove some other software but not adobe photoshop.

I really think that you should make a new fresh account. This way, you can see if it makes these errors go away.
That is my advice.

STARTBOX/SETTINGS/CONTROL PANEL/USER ACCOUNTS/CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT

Create a name, leave the administrator button checked, set password if you wish, and when it is finished, log off.

The welcome screen should show the new name, select it, and see if the problems are gone in the new ID.

You could repost your problem if you do not want to try the above idea.

I created a new user account and logged off. I restarted the computer and the windows log on screen came up but I can only see the old user name. I entered the password. I double checked and I did save the the new user name. I logged off and restarted a couple of times but I never see the new user acount name come up? What am I doing wrong?

That's weird. At the welcome screen, if you hit cntrol alt delete TWICE, it will bring up an old style login box.
Try putting the new name in there. If that does not work, then I would try to make another account with admin privs. called Test or something.

"Log On To Windows" box opened, I had to type in my new user name and password. It said something about setting up new user. The start menu and task bar now look like the newer Windows style. I was able to update adobe reader and uninstall adobe photoshop. I had to update virus protection and will redo my bookmarks in Firefox. I guess I should have done this when I first got the laptop. Thank you for your help.

You can logon to the old ID to grab things like your favorites.
or, All of the ids are located at C:/documents and settings. Just copy paste items that you want from one to the other.

Screen saver is no longer working. Checked settings and looked for some ideas online. I have not installed any new programs and I am not using a wireless mouse. I have plugged in a regular mouse but it does not make any difference if I disconnect it? When I click to preview it the screen goes black for a second then comes backs.

Before this happened I had already noticed that when I do a shutdown an End Program window called "Session Controller dlea" opens.
After it closes another End Program window opened for Superantispyware. I had to click on end now to shutdown.
I also have Avira Virus scan installed. Updated it and did not make any difference.

Any ideas on the screen saver? I do not know what the session controller dlea is.
