trojan virus / unsafe software infections

HI ALL , THIS IS MY FIRST TIME! SO BE GENTLE WITH ME!!

MY NAME IS PAUL, I LIVE IN KETTERING
I HAVE AN ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE INSTALLED ON MY P.C. (BULLGUARD) BUT RECENTLY I'M GETTING TROJAN VIRUSES ON A REGULAR BASIS?
I'VE CONTACTED BULLGUARD (E-MAIL ONLY) THEY SENT ME SOME INSTRUCTIONS TO TRY AND REMOVE THE VIRUS/S
THEY SENT ME AN ARCHIVE FILE CALLED `HIJACKTHIS2` BUT MY P.C. TELLS ME THIS FILE IS HARMFUL TO MY P.C.?
ANOTHER ONE IS `START IN SAFE MODE` OPEN BULLGUARD AND THEN FIND A FILE `C:WINDOWS/system32/drivers/etc/hosts
BUT I'M UNABLE TO RETRIEVE THIS FILE TO DELETE IT?
I'M CURRENTLY OFF WORK SICK (6 months) SO CAN'T AFFORD TO PUT P.C. IN REPAIR SHOP?
HAS ANYONE GOT ANY OTHER IDEAS OR HELP. THANK YOU. PAUL

The best way to start getting help is to post about your problem in the AM I INFECTED? Forum; I am confident that our Members can help you with your malware problem without your having to spend any money at a repair shop.
