Hi everyone.
Ok, so this is my problem:
My classmate's pc had a problem --- for months, and it's coming back. I think almost 6 months, starting from August. My dad keeps fixing it --- reformating every time it had a problem. But this time, when he reformats it and install a new one --- Windows XP Home or Pro --- after the format completes, it installs, then SOME FILES CANNOT BE COPIED! Is this common? The CD is original.
Here is the list of the files that cannot be copied:
cinemst2.sys
cpqdap01.sys
cyycoins.chm
cyzcoins.chm
digiras.chm
dvdplay.exe
kodak_dc.icm
mdwmdmsp.dll
nikedrv.sys

AND MANY MORE!

Skipping the files doesn't work, and it always got a BSOD at the end.
Any help wil be appreciated.

sounds like the installation CD is going bad or perhaps the CD drive. Try copying the installation CD on another computer so it is a fresh copy. Then try to do the installation again.

I would also clean the CD, using plain water and a soft cotton cloth to dry it, moving the cloth in straight lines (rather than circles/ovals).

Maybe the problem is the CD or the CD-Drive...let me check...

I had that issue once, it was a stick of ram that was bad. I ran memtest 86 and got errors.
Google that if the other ideas dont help.

Use a scratch repair and cleaning kit on it then burn a copy and see of that works.

I got a scratch repair/cleaning kit at the local dollar store recently for 5 bucks.
If you have one in your area check to see if they have one.

In the beginning there was the command line.

Could be, but the possibility is there, that it is not the cd or cd-drive, but it is the HD.
When the HD have bad clusters, than the cd don't install all files.
It is nasty but 100 percent true.
