BleepingComputer.com: System Restore

Hello.
My daughter has a Dell inspiron mini netbook. OS is Windows XP service pack 3. She recently had an infection by both SystemTool 2011 and a Googleredirect virus.
I am fairly confident that I have now cleared these using a combination of Malwarebytes MBAM, Avast Antivirus, Kaspersky TDSSKiller, ESET online scanner and Panda online scanner. I have also checked in start up manager for odd looking processes and in add/remove programmes for ones that should not be there and have removed some items known to be connected to these infections. All my scans are now showing clean.
However, I cannot access System Restore - when I dble click on the icon the window comes up, but with no content in the pane (all white). All I can do with it is open/close and minimise/maximise.
Might I have deleted something critical in my cleaning efforts? If so, how can I get it back? I have no immediate use for System Restore, but would not want to be without the function for ever.
Any help would be gratefully received.

Try this
Go to Start->Run and type the following commands,one at a time while pressing enter after each one.

regsvr32 jscript
regsvr32 vbscript
regsvr32 /i mshtml

I have tried this but get the same message for each of the three: "Windows cannot find regsvr32..."

This is a good article and I've been working my way through the steps in it, but with no joy so far.

I have just been trying the system file checker, but when I type in the "sfc/scannow" command, I get the message "Windows cannot find sfc/scannow...."

Any advice on my next steps would be greatly appreciated.

You left out a space sfc/scannow should be sfc /scannow

Just to make this easier, copy and paste sfc /scannow

I have now been able successfully to run regsvr32 jscript and regsvr32 vbscript and my system restore function is restored!

I still cannot run regsvr32 /i mshtml. Error message is "mshtml was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. mshtml does not appear to be a .Dll or .OCX file". Is this likely to still be a problem?
