When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

I seem to have acquired a Rootkit problem.

I can start my computer, work on files, and receive Antimalwarebytes and ComboFix updates, but any attempt to use Explorer (IE8) brings me to a page that says that Explorer cannot display this page. I was getting an error message for a few days that talked about a Generic Host and the fact that it was not running.

I ran Symantec and it did not identify anything.

I ran Anti MalwareBytes it it comes up clean.

I did not realize that I was not supposed to run ComboFix and ran it twice. It was while I was running Combofix that the RootKit was identified.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Since I cannot access the internet I cannot save the diagnostic tools to my desktop. Can I save them to a flash drive?

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

Yes, you can save the diagnostic tools to a flash drive and transfer them to the desktop on the infected PC. You can also save the logs to the flash drive so you can post them using another computer.

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<== starting at step 6.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Since you have run ComboFix, please include the ComboFix log in the new topic. Please be sure to include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to try to resolve them.

If you cannot produce any of the other logs, then please create the new topic anyway, include the information that you were unable to produce the other logs and why and include the ComboFix log along with a description of your computer issues.
