how to set up a wireless connection

I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium and I wanted to know how to set up a wireless connection between my laptop and my modem. I don't have an internet plug in my office, but I need to use my computer in there. How do I make my internet work in my office, while my modem is in the living room, because that's where it can be connected to?
I've never done this before, as I always connected the modem and lapotop with a wire.

Ok, I've sorted everything out now. I just needed a password, which i found at the bottom of my modem. =)
