I just moved into a new house. I got a new phone and internet line, and I'm having a bit of trouble with that. Every time I'm using my internet and my phone rings, it makes a hissing sound and you can't hear anything. So if the phone rings, or I want to call someone, I have to turn my internet off, which is very frustrating, especially if I'm doing something important. I'm using broadband, telecom. That kind of thing usually happens with dial-up, as I heard. I tried ringing telecom, but they are closed because of x-mas and this is a quite an urgent issue for me. I never had any problems like that at the old house.
Any suggestions, please?

Since you are using a DSL line the data and voice are coming across the same line. This can cause noise on the voice line in many cases. The best solution is to get some DSL line filters (surprising they didn't give any to you) and install them between the wall jack and each phone in your residence. This will filter out the data noise on your voice lines.

*facepalm* I have a filter on my modem, but I forgot to put one on my phone. I feel so stupid now, but you learn from your mistakes, so I'll remember for next time. lol.

There should be no filter on the line to your modem.
