I joined because I was having a computer issue, and the forum I was on earlier was rather rude to me and didnt solve the problem. . .hence a google search later found this site, which helped me resolve my problem, and been hanging around ever since. My background? Half of what I know is self taught-from me dinkin around with old computers just experimenting with stuff, and a lot of online research, been fairly active with computers since my senior year in high school, more so in college (about 7 years) the other half my dad taught me whos been doing computers since long before I was born, so they just kinda came natural to me once I picked up an interest.

Most of what I know about computers I learned by fiddling around with old machines and by experimenting with programs on my own.

I found this site (unfortunately) AFTER spending a week getting rid of a really stubborn rootkit virus when I was searching the web trying to learn more about those kind of viruses and how to stop the little :censored: Sure wish I had had found it before, since lots of people are having the same problem and the people here know right what to do.

Plus the people on this board seem to be a lot nicer tham some other computer forums I've read.

Hello geek117, Welcome to Bleepin' Puter! :busy:

I found it when I "acquired" a nasty virus-- Windows PolicePro --after exterminating that pest with Bleepin's help I started exploring the other forums and I quickly discovered that my substantially LARGE lack of knowledge about the basic care, configuration, use and maintenance of computers could be immensely helped by sticking around and exploring a good computer users forum.

This one's (arguably) the BEST, IMHO.

As for my background, I'm an average user and until I contracted the above mentioned malware, my idea of computer maintenance and care was cleaning the OUTSIDE of the case & monitor LOL.

Because I'm being held hostage by a pack of feral Wibbles, and they will shave my head and cover me in peanut butter if I don't participate.

Wibbles chatter, but they don't make sounds.
