Vista Issues

I have a HP Pavilion running Vista Home Premium SP 2
64-bit system
AMD Athlon 64 x2 5200+ 2.7GhZ
5.00g of RAM
It is running slow, and with only a little exaggeration sounds like a hair dryer. I use AVG and the built in firewall.
I dont game, I dont do much of anything except read articles. AVG has found little to nothing so cant say I suspect malware--but what do I know.
It runs so hard it shuts itself off--after this occurs on first reboot I am told windows could NOT fix the problem.
Sorry for the ineptitude, but Ive never had such a generic kind of problem with comps Ive owned for years. This is however the first Vista system I have used, and i know correlation doenst imply causation...
Anyway suggestions on what my problem might be and how to fix it would be very much appreciated.
NOTE: I read a LOT of PDFs. I am hoping that I wasnt exploited on that avenue.

What were you doing at that time?
59C is pretty hot.
Just to double check....
Download System Information for Windows (SIW free version)
No installation required.
After it scans your computer, navigate to Hardware>Sensors and post all info from there.

I will assuredly do that in the morning. I am not presently on that system or i would do it now.
I have however opened her up and cleaned her (not as well as i wished) but to a decidedly superior state then what it was.
After cleaning the computer the fans were not even audible, it didnt not shut down or slow.
However, I will again do what suggested as secondary check to make sure it is indeed operating properly now that it has been cleaned.
I figure Ill stream a movie and then take the temp with SIW to see if the problem really was just it needed a cleaning.

I assume, you used compressed air to clean the interior?

I watched a movie then played about an hours worth of flash games(which is about as rugged a use as this thing sees) and this is what I got;
