Hello,
I have run a sfc scan, the program didn't ask for anything, it just completed the scan and closed. I haven't got a cd as yet anyway.
Needless to say the problems are still there.

Old topic I know, however, I discovered recently that Packard Bell's have a recovery partition that is accessed by pressing F11 at boot.
Completely returned it to factory settings and all problems caused by the malware infestation were fixed.
A hundred or so windows updates and it's good as new.
