My question: is it possible to replace an IDE HDD (where the system is installed - Win XP) by a SSD (of course without reinstalling the OS)?
I have a motherboard with IDE and S-ATA capabilities but for some reasons my system is installed on a HDD on the IDE interface. I know that it is possible to switch to a SSD through a gost copy of the system HDD partition and then exchanging for a new HDD or SSD but when the interfaces are different, what happens?
Thanks

Yes, it is possible. You will just have to go into BIOS setup and reconfigure your boot settings to boot fron the new SATA drive instead of the IDE drive
