If I startup my Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 on my Dell Inspiron 530 desktop, and the green Windows vista loading bar goes from left to right 50 times, and takes 2 or so minutes to get past that, is that considered slow?

Seems like it is to me. Not sure what normal is.

I tried using MSCONFIG to turn off all startup items and all non-Microsoft Services and reboot and that the green loading bar went from left to right 44 times.

My system specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 at 2.8 GHz, System Bus: 1066MHz, 3 MB Cache Memory, 6GB DDR2 RAM, 750GB SATA hard drive (about 250GB is used).

Let me know what I should try. I'll attach a WinBootInfo and HijackThis log to this posting in case it helps, all in one hijackthis.log file.

Thanks!

hello,

try this to see if you can determine witch service (if any) are slowing you down... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796

has this recently started happening?

have a look in device manager to see if any signs of trouble, start> type device manager choose it from the menu click all the + signs, any warning signs there?

go here put your info in and see if theres any drivers that need updated..

good luck

Please...do not attach a HJT log in this forum to this post...unless you want your topic moved to the Malware Removal Logs forum, which deals with malware issues.

You should know that processing of logs varies and I believe that currently there is a backlog of several days before a new post is picked up by Helpers.

Sooo...if you think it's not a malware issue...don't post a log.

If you have reason to think it's a malware issue, you may want to consider posting (and following procedures there) in either:

Am I infected What do I do - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum103.html

Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum22.html

If you intend to post a log in the Virus, Trojan, etc. forum...please read through and follow the Preparation Guide, Before Using Malware Removal Tools and Requesting Help - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic34773.html. Please note that the instructions call for any logs generated...to be posted in the VTSMRL forum, not in any other forum.

Thanks :).

Louis
