I am sorry, but we do not support this kind of recovery disk, since they are illegally distributed. See also BC's board rules:

Quote

No subject matter will be allowed whose purpose is to defeat existing copyright or security measures. If a user persists and/or the activity is obviously illegal the staff reserves the right to remove such content and/or ban the user. This would also mean encouraging the use or continued use of pirated software is not permitted, and subject to the same consequences.

How did your Vista originally get installed (you might have a recovery partition). Do you see the "repair windows" option when you tap F8 on boot up?

Sorry, didn't know it was illegal I only meant to show you what I'd tried. Vista was pre installed. When I tap f8 I get to the Advanced boot options screen . It has Repair your computer which goes back to the BSOD , safe mode etc

When you choose Repair Windows, do you get an instant BSOD or does it load for a bit (black screen, white loading bar in bottom section). Is it the same BSOD?

Do you know what your harddrive's manufacturer is? If not, please post me your computer specs.

Please follow the steps here to enable boot logging.

Using xPUD, look for /mnt/sda1/windows/ntbtlog.txt and if it is created, please post its contents.

No problem. Just check when you have time if it has been created or not.

Just to check I did this right: enabled boot logging as I said before . Then restarted laptop set to boot from USB . Then looked for file .?

Does your computer have a recovery partition that can be used to reinstall Vista? If so, I strongly recommend to back up any important data and reinstall Windows. There is no obvious cause of this problem and because you have no legal Vista disk, there is little we can still do here.

I tried that but it goes to the BSOD. It's actually a mates computer & he only uses it for Facebook, Youtube & email so I've installed Linux on a pendrive & set it to boot from USB so he can at least access the internet so he's happy enough.
Thanks again for your help
