Can you try going into Safe Mode then bring up Device Manager and see if you have any Printers there, and also check Add/Remove Programs to see if you have any HP Software installed?

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

Cryptodan,

Nothing shows up in Safe Mode. No HP software found in Add/Remove. When I booted in Safe Mode with the printer cable unplugged, New Hardware Found and Wizard wanted to install it. I've got to put this to bed for the night. I'll check back tomorrow after work.

Thanks, Mark

Lets try to see what is being ran on boot up and upon windows login. Can you do the following:

Download Autoruns for Windows: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx

No installation required.

Simply unzip Autoruns.zip file, and double click on autoruns.exe file to run the program.

Go File>Save, and save it as AutoRuns.txt file to know location.

You must select Text from drop-down menu as a file type:

Attach the file to your next reply.

This Key might be causing you the issues:

"HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors" "" "" ""
+ "HP LaserJet 5 Language Monitor" "Win32 Language Monitor for direct connect HP printers" "Hewlett-Packard" "c:\windows\system32\hpdcmon.dll"

That is all I see try unchecking that, and see if the issue continues?

Unchecked as suggested. Verified no printers in Device Manager and Printers/Faxes. LPT1 unplugged. Rebooted and no change, New Hardware Found. I went back in to Autoruns and deleted the entry and rebooted.....same as before.
