Q: Can a fallen RAM stick work unproperly afterwards?

I've used Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool and it found no errors. But at the start it prompted me about my RAM is bigger than 4GB; as far as I know, it's exactly 4GB (2x2GB).

As fallen do you mean you dropped it?

As long as nothing discharged or chipped it in anyway, I don't see why not.

hi, give memtest86 a try built for memory up to 6 gig ,

This tutorial may make it easier to use Memtest86.

***** A. If you have more than one RAM module installed, try starting computer with one RAM stick at a time.

NOTE Keep in mind, the manual check listed above is always superior to the software check, listed below. DO NOT proceed with memtest, if you can go with option A

B. If you have only one RAM stick installed...
...run memtest...

1. Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)
2. Unzip downloaded memtest86+-....iso.zip file.
3. Inside, you'll find memtest86+-....iso file.
4. Download, and install ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/
5. Insert blank CD into your CD drive.
6. Open ImgBurn, and click on Write image file to disc
7. Click on Browse for a file... icon:



8. Locate memtest86+-....iso file, and click Open button.
9. Click on ImgBurn green arrow to start burning bootable memtest86 CD:



10. Once the CD is created, boot from it, and memtest will automatically start to run.

The running program will look something like this depending on the size and number of ram modules installed:




It's recommended to run 5-6 passes. Each pass contains very same 8 tests.

This will show the progress of the test. It can take a while. Be patient, or leave it running overnight.

The most important item here is the “errors” line. If you see ANY errors, even one, most likely, you have bad RAM.

...then what's the cause of these reboots? It started after adding discrete HD 5750 GPU and one more RAM stick (config. is 2x2GB).

A power supply is 450W from FSP firm.

It would appear that the RAM is ok.

Let's stop the automatic restarts, once that is done you should get an error. Please post that error in this topic.

Start> right click on My Computer> Properties> Advanced> Startup and Recovery. Under startup and Recovery click on Settings, uncheck the box in Automatically restart under System failure.

Can I send you pics from Event Viewer? Or minidump file(s)?

Can you diagnose this way?

the 5750 requires approx 400-450 watts total output from your psu, to include the rest of your system needs, and thats an average, perhaps your computer does not have enough power. Also, maybe its getting to hot with the addition of this new GPU. When your computer restarts, is there a common denominator like "gaming" or "streaming" video online or watching a movie from the dvd rom drive?

Actually, this problem persists for about some time... so much headache. That's why I'm asking to reveal minidump/logs, to know for sure.

Sometimes I hear a strange electric noise from the left of keyboard, might be PSU...

My config: AMD Athlon II X2 250, Dual-Core on 3.0GHz, 45nm; 780G mobo (with disabled int. HD 3200 graphics); 2x2GB DDR2-800 RAM; HD 5750 1 GB, non-overclocked; 1 HDD via IDE; 1 DVD-drive... and only 450W PSU for everything. :/

Chances here that it's PSU are high... but, as I've said - I wanna know for sure. If someone can read minidump files / needs a snapshot of System's logs - just tell me to upload.

P.S. I would take it on firm already, but it's a question of money (warranty is over).

The SAPPHIRE 100284L Radeon HD 5750 GPU does require at least a 450W PSU. The FSP PSU is rated at 450W and has two +12VDC rails rated at +12V1@14A, +12V2@13A. These figures usually take into consideration of what a nominal build requires wattage wise, and will usually add another 10% - 15%, so at face value it should be adequate. The only disconcerting figure is the efficiency, it's only rated at 70%. Good PSUs are usually rated at 80%.
