Hi,

If someone hotlinks images from your website, then i can use .htaccess to either block it or show another image. But is there any way to redirect that hotlinking page to my site's page?

I want them to redirect to the original web page of my site where that image actually was used by me.

Also one more question, if i use .htaccess to block the images will Google Image Search be able to show them in search results?

Thanks :)

Maybe. But from a user standpoint if I get redirected to a page that I didn't request, I am not going to react very favorably to the that page. Regardless of the situation, I would blame the end site for hijacking me. The better choice would be to send back an image that says "This site is attempting to steal an image from blah, blah, blah..." and give the user the option of typing in your url and viewing your site.

From what I have seen, sometimes yes and sometimes no. I suppose that since there are countless ways to configure a server that there is no definitive answer for your question. I did find a thread that may help you accomplish what you want. You may have seen it already:

The Google term I used for searching was 'googlebots htaccess to images' and 'googlebots htaccess to images prevent hotlink'. The first search seemed more relevant to your question.

Thanks groovicus :)
You are right it would be a mistake to redirect to page. Following your advice, I chose to show a tiny message picture instead. :)
I added google. because it has many TLDs so it matches all .com, .co.uk etc. Same goes for Yahoo!. I don't know if Bing also has many TLDs but I did same for it.
Thanks again for the link and the information :)
