Is there any concern for using NTFS formatted drives in an external USB drive where it may be used on multiple computers? I recently got a new Hitachi external drive and it came formatted as FAT32. Putting disk images on it with tools such as Terabyte's Image for Windows is a problem.

NTFS will work fine on an external. The only issues you could have is if you try to use it on another computer that either does not run windows or is an earlier version that does not support NTFS.

Be certain to use the Safe Removal every time prior to unplugging the drive. NTFS uses delayed writes more agressively than FAT32, unexpected disconnection can corrupt the drive.
