I use Windows XP I'm pretty sure I have the home edition.

I've suddenly been having this problem recently where my computer after its been on three or four hours it won't open applications (attempting to open task manager gives me an error) and existing applications like firefox become slow/unresponsive. When I manually shut down my computer it picks back up in speed.

Normally I would assume it is some sort of memory problem but I used to be able to use it for more than a day before it slowed down. It just started limiting itself so suddenly. It seems that it picks back up after it reboots. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can increase the time I can use the computer at one time? I haven't tried anything yet. I have a wired connection, and turning off my firewall doesn't seem to help.

System manufacturer and model?

How much RAM installed?

How large is C: partition? How much free space on C: partition?

Have you checked for possible overheating?

Error message when attempting to open Task Manager?
