When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

If you have not received help after three days, please post a link to your topic HERE.

There is obviously something on here that is well protected.
Is this a Dell PC???

Please download the TDSS Rootkit Removing Tool (TDSSKiller.exe) and save it to your Desktop. <-Important!!!
Be sure to download TDSSKiller.exe (v2.4.0.0) from Kaspersky's website and not TDSSKiller.zip which appears to be an older version 2.3.2.2 of the tool.
  • Double-click on TDSSKiller.exe to run the tool for known TDSS variants.
Vista/Windows 7 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
  • If TDSSKiller does not run, try renaming it.
  • To do this, right-click on TDSSKiller.exe, select Rename and give it a random name with the .com file extension (i.e. 123abc.com). If you do not see the file extension, please refer to How to change the file extension.
  • Click the Start Scan button.
  • Do not use the computer during the scan
  • If the scan completes with nothing found, click Close to exit.
  • If malicious objects are found, they will show in the Scan results - Select action for found objects and offer three options.
  • Ensure Cure (default) is selected, then click Continue > Reboot now to finish the cleaning process.
  • A log file named TDSSKiller_version_date_time_log.txt (i.e. TDSSKiller.2.4.0.0_27.07.2010_09.o7.26_log.txt) will be created and saved to the root directory (usually Local Disk C:).
  • Copy and paste the contents of that file in your next reply.

How do I get help? Who is helping me?

Hello, Ok I have only seen the Adware.MyWebSearch re occur as some of it is installed on a Dell.
My Web Search also known as the My Way Speedbar is the Internet Explorer toolbar part of the Fun Web Products suite of utilities such as Smiley Central, Cursor Mania, My Mail Stationary, My Mail Signature, PopSwatter, Popular Screensavers, Webfetti, and the My Way website portal.

Let;s see if it is installed:
Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel
Look for My Web Search in the list of installed programs and click on Change/Remove to uninstall it.

Now look and remove these if found.
My Web Search (Smiley Central or FWP product as applicable)
My Way Speedbar (Smiley Central or other FWP as applicable)
My Way Speedbar (AOL and Yahoo Messengers) (beta users only)
My Way Speedbar (Outlook, Outlook Express, and IncrediMail)
Search Assistant - My Way

Reboot the PC.
Rerun MBAM (MalwareBytes) like this:

Open MBAM in normal mode and click Update tab, select Check for Updates, when done
click Scanner tab, select Quick scan and scan (normal mode).
After scan click Remove Selected, Post new scan log and Reboot into normal mode.

Next remove folders, open My Computer, Drive C, and double-click on the Program Files folder
Right-click and delete the folders for: FunWebProducts and MyWebSearch

Please ask any needed questions, post logs and Let us know how the PC is running now.
How do I get help? Who is helping me?
Staying Updated Calendar of Updates.

Good evening!

Well, the laptop is an HP, but my PC is most definitely a Dell. When I was trying to network the two computers a couple of months ago, that's probably when I picked up the "bad stuff" from the PC.

So here is the log produced from your last set of instructions. There were no FunWebProducts or MyWebSearch things to delete from Program Files Folder.

Do you use a flash drive between these compy's?
Did you ever scan the other PC?

It's a long story I'll try to make short. This past summer, the PC was acting strangely, so I brought it to my friendly PC repair guy. He put a new brain in there, gave me the old one for safekeeping and sold me this used Laptop. User Maddy used to use the PC all the time until the crash happened. After the crash, I designated the laptop as the only computer she could use. PC repair guy re-loaded all my old stuff into the new brain of the PC. The old stuff included some of her iPod stuff, so she used the PC a couple of times after it was repaired. Meanwhile, I was busy trying to network the two computers. The instructions on that had me using the flashdrive between the two computers. So, I guess long story short ... I probably need to work on cleaning the other computer too since I haven't done that yet

Oops, forgot one of your questions ... the laptop is faster than it was - it definitely feels better. The best result is that User Maddy feels so contrite about the whole thing that she doesn't want to play on the computer as much as before - I call that success!!!!!

As a Martial art instructor I an alll about getting thec kids up and excercising. So yes you should scan the other PC. But I asked as the Flash drive may be infected and tranferring malware. We should clean it.

Flash_Disinfector is a specialized fix tool created by sUBs to remove infections that load an autorun.inf file on removable media. Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden "dummy" autorun folder/file with special permissions in each partition and every external drive that was connected when the tool was run. This folder helps to keep the malicious autorun.ini file from being installed on the root drive and running other malicious files which will infect the computer.

Please download Flash_Disinfector.exe by sUBs and save it to your desktop.
•Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.

•The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.

•Hold down the Shift key when inserting the drive until Windows detects it to keep autorun.inf from executing if it is present.

•Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.

•Reboot your computer when done.
Note: As part of its routine, Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive that was plugged in when you ran it. Do not delete this folder...it will help protect your drives from future infection by keeping the autorun file from being installed on the root drive and running other malicious files.

Hmmm,I'm getting a little hungry
