Hi all,I have a CD burner in my computer,as most folks do,I'm sure.I use Xilisoft DVD Creator to burn movies to a DVD-R disc so I can view them on my home dvd player.Has worked fine for years. What I wanted to know is if I use a blank blue-ray disc can I burn blue-ray movies.I didn't want to buy any if it's not going to work.Hope I got my point across,Tony.

You need a Blu-ray burner, to burn Blu-ray discs.
Blu-ray and DVD are two different technologies.
Blu-ray burners uses a 405 nm "blue" laser, while DVDs use a 650-nanometer red laser.
The discs themselves, also use different manufacturing techniques.
