BleepingComputer.com: Maintaining minimized page

Hi
I have a problem of the minimized page closing when opening a new page, and what a time consumer this is.

Can someone advise me here?

When I minimise my yahoo email account and open Google or a URL the Yahoo minimized page will close.

What I'm hoping to find out is what program you're using to access these pages, like Internet Explorer, FireFox, Opera. Was it working how you want and suddenly changed?

Hi...thanks for your reply......I have changed to Firefox recently...previously IE8.....but the same thing happened for both............

Did it work differently for you before you installed Firefox?

In your example above, when you minimise the Yahoo page, how do you then go to an alternative like Google, do you start the browser again, do you already have multiple windows loaded?

No...just the same for both browsers.

From Yahoo being minimised, I click on the Google icon on the desktop......and yes sometimes I have multiple pages open..............

With IE, in the Internet Options/Advanced tab on the Tools menu, is the option "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts" enabled? I can't nominate the equivalent setting in FF at the moment as I only have IE and Opera on this computer.
That might change how it works using a desktop shortcut.

If you don't mind me suggesting, I suspect your difficulty is basically due to using the browser in an awkward way. I think your browsing would be much smoother and quicker if you open two or three tabs in the browser, or separate windows if you prefer, and use the favorites or the Most Recently Used dropdown on the URL bar to go to regular sites. Then you can quickly flick between tabs, or click on the window choices on the taskbar to swap between sites.
