... and I did not see anything about "Advanced Windows Care V2 Personal" or "Iobit Smart Defrag". These 2 apps are both free and are offered by Iobit at www.Iobit.com". "Advanced Windows Care" offers a 1-click approach to "protect, optimize, ...

I am SURE that someone in this community has heard of these apps and even tried them or uses them so I am wondering why they are not on the list. Am I missing something that I should know about them?????

Are they known to cause problems or just not work well???

Please advise!!??!!

trumpetman51 (John)

The reason Advanced Windows V2 Personal is not listed is because it is a registry cleaning tool. While it may or may not be safe we feel unsupervised use of such tools is potentially dangerous.
We just out right prohibit such programs.

teatimer in spybot is one of the most dangerous registry tools I have ever used, it's great but always turn it off before installing nortons and updating, same with appling some of the windows updates, if teatime glitches and you can't allow the registry changes then there are bad problems, has this problem been fixed?

DaChew,
Your question would be best answered in the AntiVirus, Firewall and Privacy Products and Protection Methods forum.

Hey Guys,

just a quick info. I suggested GreatNews and Snarfer before and you should be aware that these both are beta versions. They work fine until you install IE7. I tried for three days to get it to work, before I decided to uninstall IE7 again yesterday as I dont even use IE6 anymore these days. IE7 even made my thunderbird not work with links in emails anymore

- edit - fix spelling and removed suggested tool that hadnt been tested as yet.

Just a reminder of the requirements, for posting suggestions:

Sorry TG, I forgot. Just stumbled over it and thought it a good tool for those travelling a lot. I edited my post again to reflect rules.

But I do have one that I tested and in fact just used to post my latest blog post. Its a blogging tool from Microsoft and is called Windows Live Writer. Its still a beta, but works nicely.

Have you ever deleted a file you wish you hadn't? Well this Recuva - File Recovery is a great free file recovery app. If you've deleted a file of a hard drive, floppy disk or Flash drive then this will recover it.

Its made by the same company that makes CCleaner. thumbup2.gif

I'm surprised that I haven't recommended this before. I have been using it for about a year now and find it excellent as it holds 200 records of copied items. YANKEE CLIPPER III.

I've been looking for a while for a good defrag program because of course Windows defrag is a nuisance. Defraggler is from the folks behind CCleaner. It's currently in Beta. It's a very small file. It took seconds to download. The biggest feature is you can isolate and defrag individual files. But I did a full defrag this afternoon and it only took 15 minutes. That makes me want to do a defrag regularly. Recommended.
