How about MaxBlast by Maxtor/Seagate. It's basically Acronis True Image (that's who mde it) and it's free. I'm not sure if you need to have a Seagate/Maxtor drive installed to use it. Offers the ability to make and restore backup images.

I haven't a lot on my HDD,but it was showing a mass of fragmented Files.I selected JK Defrag from Grinler's Freeware Replacements and ran a defrag. I am very impressed at the resulting screen Shot. thumbup2.gif
Wondering what other Members, use JK Defrag and are they happy with it?

Great thread,

The advantage when it comes to commercial software for your home based business is that you can experiment with the software prior to making a commitment to purchase. You should know and understand that not all software will prove to be a type that you can use. Many are too basic, while others are too complicated. Many have too few features while others have exactly what you will need. There are some that will be too costly, while others have a decent price tag attached to them. This is why it is important to have the ability to play around with the software prior to purchasing. Now, you can discover which types of shareware will work for you and which types will serve absolutely no purpose at all!

For those who wish to use Windows Vista Firewall. This is the 32-bit version; Vista Firewall Control.

Here is the 64-bit version

This tip was offered on another forum, but I was unable to locate it to post the link.

Cropper - Cropper is a screen capture utility written in C#. It makes it fast and easy to grab parts of your screen. Use it to easily crop out sections of vector graphic files such as Fireworks without having to flatten the files or open in a new editor. Use it to easily capture parts of a web site, including text and images. It's also great for writing documentation that needs images of your application or web site.

I havent grasped the full flexibility of the tool, but suggest you install the plugins too.

I also found a "how to" video with a short intro to cropper.

i think the way to monitor/flag topics is to use the options in the top right corner

So, you like your desktop shortcuts, but, you hate looking at those little arrows, well, get rid of them.

Make your desktop shortcuts more eye appealing with VISTA SHORTCUT MANAGER

Hope you like it

I used to do a lot of swearing when trying to search for any particular thing on my computer, but not for the last few months since I have been using a great little program called EVERYTHING. Once it has catalogued your computer, the icon just sits in your systray using next to no resources. A double click on the icon brings up the window and as soon as you start typing in your search, the answer is right there instantly. Great stuff. This beats Windows and Copernic hands down.

I was searching for a small, yet effective program to keep my running processes to a minimum 5% CPU usage and to improve system responsiveness.
I found this great little program called PROGRAM LASSO

is this list still updated? 15 pages are getting a bit clumsy to wade through whistling.gif.

For those with Ipods and not wanting to use Itunes, I can only recommend MediaMonkey. Another alternative, but still in beta and not quite there yet would be songbird. Wont link to it, since its a beta tool.

An excellent PDF Viewer alternative to adobe, with tons of extra features: PDF Viewer from PDF-XChange.
