I've been playing around with freeware and I found this awesome CD/DVD/Blu-Ray/HD-DVD application, Starburn. It is made by Rocket Division, and it is an awesome program. Quality is definite, as prices are as high as $500 each.
Link can be found here.
http://www.rocketdivision.com/download_starburn.html
The other programs are the download/order are probably also good, but I haven't checked them yet.

The siteadvisor is hardly totally accurate, but I thought, "Better safe than sorry".

I have 'computer hypochondria'. Got to stop reading those old HJT logs.

It's safe. People are just stupid enough to just madly click through the EULA and not see what stuff they have ignored as a opt-in checkmark or hidden installation. StarBurn gives the option of whether you want the home page to be set or not. I mean... if people don't look through anything and then complain about "browser exploits"... well... shucks for them<_<
FileHippo's Update Checker is better than anything else I've seen. It might not have really obscure software, but there are lots of stuff on there. No need for a subscription for VersionTracker Pro, Driver Agent, Radarsync (although that site does have an archive of updates free users can download), or any of that stuff.
Edit: Oh yeah... don't sweat about the HJT logs :D I read through them all the time in order to get myself more educated with the power of DSS, ComboFix, and its logs. No need to be paranoid... I'm probably the most insecure computer user ever tongue.gif

I doubt anyone's ever heard of this, but it pretty good

the free download only scans and removes malware but has frequent database updates

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

startuplite is worth mentioning also

http://www.malwarebytes.org/startuplite.php

let it decide what you really need and don't

Mediainfo is an open-source solution to getting any at all information for your media files. It offers many different ways of viewing the info to your liking, as well as building a custom style sheet so you only see the info you need. Not only that, it even gives you information on which codecs are necessary to view it and will even guide you to the download page of it! After downloading, it's possible to also replace the information offered by Windows itself when you hover over a media file, replacing it with the in-depth info of Mediainfo wink.gif With this program, I believe I have found a panacea laugh.gif

Movienizer - "Love movies? Have a growing wish list in addition to a respectable collection? Having trouble navigating through the collection? Organize your movie collection with Movienizer for absolutely free!"

I installed it yesterday as I have about 40 DVDs and can never remember if I have all sequels of a set of movies for ie, or if I already bought it tongue.gif. This software is easy to use and feeds from online databases. Additionally you can printout "Reports" in different file formats, listing all your movies.

No recommendation today, but I did manage to find almost all the system requirements for the applications up to Hard Drive & System Utilities, if it's still needed.
I wanted to attach but apparently it's "inherently risky" so I guess I'll post it here. I decided against a filehost because it's small and too pointless. Formatting is a bit lost though...
I'll try to finish later whether it's needed or not.
Edit: Never mind won't work, I guess I'll hotlink it.

FYI

This is an excerpt from my AVG Event History Log concerning a virus detected in keyfinder.2.0.1.zip that I downloaded from bleeping computer. I don't remember if it was from your list or from one of the responses posted. If it was the latter then my bad. Either way I thought you should know.

Where: keyfinder.2.0.1.zip
Type: @EID_Id_trj
What: PSW.Generic6.HRE

I am not doubting that it is a false positive because I know that happens a lot and I do have a lot of confidence in this website.

I would also be happy to report the false positive to AVG.

Not that I doubt you Mr. Chewbacca, but can you point me to some other evidence of the falseness of the report and/or other info that would be helpful to AVG, such as what resides in the .zip file that may have caused the false report, to add to my contact with AVG? No offense, but I don't think they will make any changes based on "Chewbacca told me so".

BTW thanks for the quick response.

For the on-line scholar and note-taking student, Firefox has a very good extension, Zotero, while allows note-taking, saving webpages and highlighting them, preparing bibliographies and footnote information.

I've just downloaded keyfinder.2.0.1.zip and keyfinder.exe is reported to have a PSW.Generic6.HRE virus with my AVG. I've downloaded keyfinder.1.51.zip and that ok.

I can't see that you found the Keyfinder on a link in here, its against company policy.

If you want to join the AVG forum then have a look here dry.gif
