Have read all ten pages but Bookmarks/Favorites do not seem to be covered. I have a desktop and a laptop and use Internet Exlorer 7 and Firefox so keeping my bookmarks/favorites up to date on each machine and between browsers is nightmare. Does anyone know of a freeware bookmarks/favorites program similar to Bookmark Buddy that I could keep on a flash drive or at least on each machine which I could then synchronise regularly? The Foxmarks can be portable if you install the Portable Firefox here on a flash drive. And for the Firefox beta 3 versions you'll need to sign up for the Foxmarks beta testing program. There's lots of bugs though, like last night I lost 3 days worth of bookmarks and had to backup from another computer. GASP Evernote isn't on here!!!!
Evernote, the definition taken straight out of the FAQ which I wholeheartedly agree with: QUOTE What is EverNote? EverNote is powerful tool for capturing and managing information from your daily life. EverNote allows users to capture all of their notes and data, regardless of format, to a single location, and easily find them anytime. Use EverNote to store and quickly access typed and handwritten memos, mobile phone snapshots, web page clips, emails, passwords, brainstorms, sketches, to-dos, and much more. There used to be Evernote Plus and Evernote Free, but now it's just Evernote. If you download it it's first a 60 day trial of full, then it goes to free version. The free version still has all the features you'll ever need for a productive organizing and notetaking experience on the computer. Beta testing also available, I have 5 invites if anyone wants it. Not sure about Version 2.2 although I'm pretty sure it's available, but Beta testing allows the notes to be stored on the Evernote server, where it can be shared or kept private. If you're paranoid you can store the notes on your own hard disc. FAQ here. Download here. -------------------- "If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. I just ripped an audio cd with audiograbber to mp3 and it created 13 files i/o one, so I was looking for a freeware app that makes one mp3 out of it and I found this amazingly fast and free programme: "MP3 Album Maker"
"KISS - 'keep it simple stupid' a wise engineer once told me. The MakeitOne audio tools follow this philosophy, we are designing applications to help you pack/join your music files in a single file - whilst still allowing full playability, tag editing and unpacking. You can keep all the songs, from one album, in a single file. Easier to handle, transport and hassle free playing." -------------------- - "How did I get infected?" - "Safe-hex" - Member of UNITE - - The HJT forum is very busy. Thank you Yourhighness, you have made my week Surprised that AnVir Task Manager didn't come up here. It's one of the absolute best alternatives to the Windows Task Manager. The freeware version is already full of useful features like checking a process on Virustotal, CPU usage limiter, Hijackthis log maker, and limited ability to minimize programs into the system tray. The best thing is that it's also portable! With the paid versions you have access to information on 70k+ startup entries and processes, and whether they're safe or not. Comparison here and freeware download here. AlltoAVI is an excellent and popular open-source media converter. Like it says, it converts everything to AVI. It even includes the ability to add subtitles of srt, sub, and... some other extension that I forgot about into the AVI. There's also a shell extension, drag and drop support, and tooltips. So far, all the conversions are flawless, and I haven't found anything wrong with it except that the tooltips fades before I finish reading and I can't get it back. This was made to mainly convert anime so there's a strong anime theme to it ^_^ And why isn't Camstudio on here O.O In my opinion (and I've already downloaded programs for experimental purposes ad nauseam) the best screen recorder so far. It records to AVI and can convert AVI into SWF. It's open source and regularly updates. There's increasing tech support and even a lossless audio codec you can use. Really easy GUI, even an idiot like me learned the minute I ran it. Sourceforge page here and information page here. If you need a really powerful recording tool that a computer illiterate can use immediately, this is perfect for you. -------------------- "If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. It's one of the programs on our list, under the Audio Applications heading, in Post #3 It might be a little more program, than what you were looking for, as it's an audio editor with a lot of functionality, but it will join songs, as well. -------------------- I love being married.

You're welcome, Yourhighness.
Once you start digging into the app, you'll be surprised what it can do, for a free program. -------------------- I love being married.

I have been trialling ThreatFire for 2 weeks now and am very impressed with the results. This app is different in that it works on behaviour so doesn't need to update a database every day. It also works happily in conjunction with your present antivirus and antimalware. No cons so far.
