I'm planning to look at this later. I'm particularly interested in NewsGator Online because it supposedly tailors the feed to my subject interests as opposed to individual news feeds. I'm currently using an RSS reader as part of my Rogers Yahoo webmail. This seems like it might be good to supplement that. So has anyone used NewsGator Online.

The great FeedDemon rss reader is now freeeware!

I had used it when it was still trialware, but according to these sources [1], [2] & [3] its now freeware clapping.gif .
If you do not wish to create an online account for synchronisation purposes, click "skip this step" and you can continue without an account for the newsgator services provided in the first screen wink.gif

I know of an online free backup site (i believe it hasnt been mentioned either =] )
E Snips it offers 5GB of free storage.
You can choose if you want to share your files or not. Dont worry though, your personal files are safe if you dont wish for others to see them.
There is a toolbar offered for easy upload. Please note that it is for IE 6&7, Firefox, Mozilla and Netscape 7+ only (bad luck for us safari and opera users sad.gif )
There are some limitations though. You can only upload 100MBs of files at a time or only 50MBs if they're zipped files.

I do use this site reguarly to back up my music, videos, photos, and some documents.
I think its fantastic so give it a try smile.gif

"People die of disease and accident. Death comes suddenly and there is no notion of good or bad. It leaves, not a dramatic feeling but great emptiness. When you lose someone you loved very much you feel this big empty space and think, 'If I had known this was coming I would have done things differently.' These are the feelings I wanted to arouse in the players with Aerith's death relatively early in the game. Feelings of reality and not Hollywood." - Yoshinori Kitase

I've been playing around with freeware and I found this awesome CD/DVD/Blu-Ray/HD-DVD application, Starburn. It is made by Rocket Division, and it is an awesome program. Quality is definite, as prices are as high as $500 each.
Link can be found here.
http://www.rocketdivision.com/download_starburn.html
The other programs are the download/order are probably also good, but I haven't checked them yet.
Cheers smile.gif

REFERENCE MANAGER SOFTWARE

I work in academics, and I found this software to be really a good help. I'm talking about Zotero, a Firefox plugin that helps you deal with your references while working on a research. It's really light (I think it isn't bigger than 1 MB) and free.

However, please note the following:
  • The program is a plugin for Mozilla Firefox, so you must have this software installed.
  • Well, actually, in their web they say it works with some other programs too.
  • It's a plugin, so you'll need always to run it along with another program, that is a web browser.
  • It is basically intended to help you manage web references: you find an interesting resource in the web?: then you can save it in your HDD with Zotero and fill the proper fields for later quotation and reference.
  • It has a Word plugin for "cite-as-you-type" function ("cite-as-you-type" is a function designed by EndNote).
  • Finally, this program is just developing, so you may find some bugs.

Hope it helps somebody.

Best regards,

Spiceworks: Scans your network and grabs info from your network devices, as well as providing a Web and Email ticket based helpdesk. For windows devices this includes the Event log, free disk space, last login and installed software. Networked Printers\Photocopiers that support SNMP usually show remaining Ink Levels etc. There is SSH support for *NIX as well, although not as much support as for Windows. Can be configured to email you when certain machines\devices are offline.

Originally posted it in the wrong place, see http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic129035.html <-- That thread

@Crystaloptical: You can do this manually using Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.com

Please note that Zonealarm now comes with the Ask toolbar. I do not support Zonealarm in my suggestions for freeware firewalls anymore and if someone has installed it, I point to this blog post: http://sunbeltblog.blogspot.com/2007/12/another-security-company-succumbs-to.html

I would like to ask to either remove ZA, or make a note on the first page of this thread, pointing to the blog post. Merci YoHi

Just a reminder too all making a suggestion for inclusion in this topic.. Thank You.

QUOTE(tg1911 @ Aug 25 2006, 10:37 PM) *
Please, feel free to suggest any additions to this list, that you might have.
All we ask, is that you abide by these 3 conditions:

1. It must be Freeware (free programs).
2. It must not contain any Spyware/Malware.
3. It must be a program, that you have, or are still using.

Registry cleaners are not included in this list due to the fact that, in the hands of inexperienced users, they could cause irreparable damage to the Operating System, and render their computer inoperable.
So to be on the safe side, they aren't included in the list.
If you feel you have the need for a registry cleaner, inquire in the forums, and someone will direct you to one.
Please do not recommend any registry cleaners for inclusion into this list.

Any registry cleaning programs that are posted as suggestions, will be removed from this topic, without any explanation!!

So, if you have a program that's not on the list, that you use and like, please suggest it.
Who knows, it might be "just the program" someone was looking for.
All suggestions, will be considered for addition to the list.

If you find any links that don't work, or that don't lead to where they are supposed to, please post them as a reply to this topic, or send me a PM.

BTW nice find Youhighness thumbup2.gif
