BleepingComputer.com: audio on media player vs no audio online/ logon

I use firefox, and I had audio two nights ago but when i came to watch any online video yesterday morning i had no audio. However when I load the video it loads as normal and plays like it always did!

The other problem is that I tried to play something in Window media player and it works. I tried IE and its doesnt. If thats not weird then this sure is I get no start up/close down/log off sounds yet windows media player works.

I have tried everything i can find on the internet to solve this problem but it doesnt work. I hav tried:

(1) reinstalling sound drivers
(2) looking at rededit and changing it and add files into it
(3) playing with the flash controls
(4) reinstalling flash
(5) reinstalling firefox
(6) unpluging and repluging speakers
(7)changing the volume control on windows
(8) codex fixer
(9) virus checker
(10) restarting
(11) restoring a few days back
(12)shouting at the computer

im runing the latest version of firefox (3.6.12) and the lastest version of flash (as it updated today).
