I'm in the camp that every email attachment needs good testing (or in most cases simply discarding - as I rarely open them). Yahoo's email (NAV 2004 based) and McAfee give me the capability to double check. My old saying: "The only good email attachment is usually a discarded one"

P.S. The BMP extension should be included in email filtering and AV product "extension lists" to block/detect BMP incoming email attachments.
