Hello All,

I recently used rkill as prescribed in order to eliminate the Microsoft security essentials scareware. After using it, I noticed that applications on my laptop (like iTunes, Malwarebytes, etc) and even things like Add/Remove and the clock, give the following error message when I attempt to start them:

"Error: The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel."

I went to Folder Options and could not find anything that seemed intuitive to fix the problem. Any ideas?

Please move this post to the correct forum if this is not the right place. Thanks!!!

Download this and on the problem computer see if you can open it and merge the data. Just double-click the file and allow it to merge if it prompts.

That did the trick! Thanks Grinler! Yet another example of why I come to Bleeping Computer any time I have computer issues : )

Grinler - I have a thread open in the Virus/Trojan/Malware forum that hasn't been answered yet if you feel like taking a look.

Thanks a million!

Wish I could help you, but in the middle of squashing forum upgrade bugs.
