My operating system is Windows XP Home.
Did not install new programs/upgrades but did uninstall games that have not been used in over a year. After the uninstall, when I tried to start up, instead of the usual 4 user choices as before, I am asked my password for my desktop, when that is typed in I get Explorer.EXE-Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly
(0xc015002)Click on OK to terminate the application
When I try Safe Mode with Prompt, I am still asked for my password and when typed in, I get a gray screen with Safe Mode logo on all 4 sides but no icons. If any information is available on how I may solve this problem it will be greatly appreciated.

System manufacturer and model, please?
From what I see...this error occurs when users are trying to install something.
Did you try Last Known Good Configuration? The other safe mode boot options?

Do you have the XP Recovery Console installed?
If so, try running chkdsk /r command.
Outside of a repair install, I really can't think of anything else to suggest.
I can't find anything pertinent at the Dell website.
